Volunteers

All families are required to provide at least one volunteer for any and all meets where your swimmer competes. We cannot run a swim meet without volunteers.

Some positions require training. Please note that you may be assigned to volunteer positions that do not require any special training and are not listed below such as timer, concession clerk, safety marshal, or relay coordinator.

When you arrive at a meet, please check in with Mike Arnold to confirm your volunteer position for the night, and receive any additional instructions.

RSL Training

Training has been created for all our volunteer requirements with the exception of timer (no training required for timers). All positions are required to complete training for the 2025 season (this is an annual requirement).

2025 Waiver Requests for USAS/VHSL Trained Positions. As in the past years, for certain positions that have undergone the trainings provided by USA Swimming or the Virginia High School League, a waiver request can be submitted to the RSL by using the link to submit their forms and documentation: 2025 RSL Training

All volunteer training will be performed online via the Rappahannock Swim League (RSL) website: 2025 RSL Training. Direct access to each class is also available when clicking on the class below. RSL training has been created using Edpuzzle. You will be asked to establish an account. There is no cost associated with completing this training. Training can be completed throughout the season. Our first meet in 2025 season is a AWAY meet, but we will have the responsibility to provide trained volunteers. Click the links below to be taken to the training. You MUST answer all questions and click the SUBMIT button at the end of each course in order to get credit. If you do not score 70% or higher, you will be required to re-train. Chrome browser works best, Internet Explorer apparently does not support the Edpuzzle application.  Note: access the class directly by clicking on the position title OR via the RSL training website provided:
1. Referee (if you are interested in becoming a Referee, take the training! You will shadow/assist an existing Referee during Home/Away meets before assuming the Referee role).
2. Stroke & Turn. We will need a minimum of 6 S&T trained volunteers in order to officiate our meets and have backups if needed.
3. Head Timer. We need a minimum of 3 Head Timers.
4. Clerk of Course. We need a minimum of 6 Clerk of Course trained volunteers.
5. Starter. We need a minimum of 5 trained starters.
6. Head Scorekeeper/data. We need a minimum of 8 trained scorekeepers.  Note:  all data entry training is conducted via the "Head Scorekeeper" training link.  Please take the training if you are performing "data" roles!!
We will plan to conduct "hands on" orientation to practice your new skills at one of our practices but board members are available during each practice session to assist you. If you ever have questions, please ask one of the board members!!
We're ALL volunteers, THANKS SO MUCH for your participation!
