June 12 HOME Meet

Hello again, Dragons!

Monday is our Home Meet against Eden Estates. The current weather forecast for Monday indicates a possibility of thunderstorms. Although we swim in an indoor pool, the pool closes during thunderstorms in accordance with national YMCA guidelines. Please check your email Monday afternoon, as our RSL rep will be monitoring the weather. If the meet is postponed, the make-up date is Wednesday, June 14.

Note that we have a meet scheduled for Thursday, June 15 at College Heights. The swimmer sign up deadline is tomorrow, Monday, June 12 at 11:30 p.m.

Like our previous Home Meet, our warm ups are from 4:45 to 5:00 (10 and under) and 5:00 to 5:15 (12 and older). The visiting team warms up after the home team. The National Anthem will be played at 5:55, and the meet starts at 6:00 p.m.

The YMCA will block off the parking lot to the rear of the pool. Swimmers and families will sit outside in the parking lot outside the pool area. You will want to bring sunscreen, a pop-up canopy, camping chairs, etc. Families may set up their chairs/canopies in the parking lot. You will want to pack water, snacks and dinner for your family. You may also want to bring cash for our concession stand. I have also attached the swimmer entries.

If your swimmer is entered in Monday’s meet, and you have not signed up for a volunteer job, please sign-up asap. Also you are able, please consider making a food or drink donation to concessions.

Concessions and clerk of course will be located in the grassy area along the exterior wall of the pool. Swimmers will go to the clerk of the course located beside the far exterior pool door. They will be walked into the pool area by volunteers, when it is time for their race. Swimmers will exit the pool area when their race is finished.

Spectators can enter the pool through the door closest to the front of the building to watch their swimmers race, and then return to the outside seating to make room for other spectators.

I want to remind our swimmers of a few expectations regarding behavior at the YMCA: the locker rooms are to be used for changing (no horseplay). The hallway, gym and lobby are off limits to swimmers during the meet. Swimmers are expected to be with their teammates, socializing and resting outside, on-deck cheering, or racing in the pool. When outside, swimmers (and younger siblings) should stay within the parking lot area that is blocked off, for safety reasons. Be respectful of parents and coaches from both teams. Show good sportsmanship to your teammates and the members of the away team. Last but not least, please pick up your trash.
