Volunteer Jobs and Training
Good evening, Dragons!
This evening marked the final in person training offered by the RSL aside from Head Referee training to take place this weekend. On behalf of the board and your children: thank you for making the effort to attend and learn all that you can to make our season successful for the swimmers.
If you feel that you need a little more review of your assigned duty, you can find that information HERE. Please find and review any documents or slideshows regarding your duty. Some of the information is very helpful to review at your own pace.
On Monday and Tuesday, the board members as well as some seasoned parents will be available to review a more hands-on approach to clerk of course, data, starter, and stroke and turn. Please bring any questions that you have with you to practice. While some of the information in the presentations and slide shows may feel overwhelming, it will all make sense once you and your swimmers experience your first swim meet.
SWIM MEET! Yes! We have one next Wednesday at Eden Estates. Please make sure you RSVP each of your swimmers by Friday at midnight so that Coach Dana and Coach Harrison can assign them their events. A list of the events and the order in which they appear in a swim meet was posted on the Dragons bulletin board behind the bleachers by the pool. It can also be found HERE. Eden Estates is a 4 lane pool, but every other swim meet will be a 6 lane swim meet. Please look at the order of events and note your swimmers' ages prior to choosing a volunteer job.
Volunteer Job sign-ups will open at 7:30am tomorrow. Please follow the instructions on our website to select a job for at least one adult per family. It is important to choose a job that coincides with your swimmer's maximum participation time frame. If you have a younger swimmer, it is possible that he or she will be done swimming after event #40 or 50 and therefore, your family would be able to leave. You would not be able to leave if you have signed up to volunteer the entire 2nd half of a meet. If you have older swimmers (ages 11 and up), it is most likely that you will be at the meet for the entire 2nd half and therefore, you may want to choose that half for your volunteer position. While this is not always the case, it is something to consider when choosing your volunteer duty. Also, please note that the volunteer coordinator may contact you to make changes to your chosen job should the needs of the team necessitate your expertise and training.
As always, we thank you for your time and sharing your summer and your children with us. We look forward to our first swim meet next week. Please reach out if you have any questions.
