Welcome Back, Dragons!
Hello Dragons families! Welcome back to the pool! This email contains a lot of important information. Please read thoroughly. If you have any questions, we will address them at our parent meeting.
Parent Meeting: Wednesday, June 2 outside the pool doors during practice
Change in Practice Times: Instead of two different practices, all age groups will practice from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Swimmers will be separated by ability. We will have 3 coaches, 2 on deck and 1 in the water working with our newer less experienced swimmers.
Practice Procedures: Swimmers will enter the pool area from the side door of the YMCA which goes directly to the pool deck. Swimmers should come dressed in their swimsuit, with goggles and a towel. Please visit our Team Store at SwimOutlet for swimsuit and goggle purchase suggestions. Non-vaccinated swimmers and volunteers will be required to wear a mask when on deck, but not while actively participating in practice.
Parent Volunteers: All swimmers who are participating in a swim meet must have an adult volunteering at the meet. Volunteers must train for at least one RSL position. This information was on the registration form. Trained volunteer jobs include: clerk of course, data entry, stroke and turn judge, referee and starter. Other volunteer jobs will be assigned as needed such as timer, awards, announcer and safety marshall but every swimmer must have one adult who trains for a job. RSL has provided online training for these jobs this season.
Training: This year, the RSL has teamed up with SwimTopia for our team websites and for the running of the swim meets. Swimtopia is also providing the training on how to use the software (Meet Maestro) to run our meets. Clerk of Course, Head Timer, Head Scorekeeper, and Starter: These trainings are completed by reviewing a series of PowerPoint Slides posted on the RSL TRAININGS site. After completing the training, please add your information to the 2021 RSL Officials form linked on the site, in order to be listed as a trained official for this season.
* Data / Meet Maestro: We need at least one parent to complete the Meet Maestro training on
June 5, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. Each team must have at least 1 trained computer operator at every meet. The following training should only be attended by the computer operator/data volunteer. Parents must register in advance. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. If you have served as a data person before PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT to attend this training as the more who know, the better. This system is new to RSL and it will help us run things smoothly.

Team Communication: Our team has a website, facebook page, and a Remind texting service. RSL also has a website and facebook page.
Meet Schedule: Our 1st meet is Monday, June 14 (see schedule online). Swimmers will need to sign up for each meet they plan to attend. Instructions will be given as we get closer to our first meet. Volunteer positions will be assigned and posted prior to meets. Swim meets are not possible without volunteers, and we thank you in advance!
